Being a fashion blogger talking about fashion week definitely has its advantages! Fashion editors in magazines do not get to be as selective or personal as bloggers! Here, it’s a lot about taste and perception.
This NYFW was quite interesting for me for more than a reason; two in fact. One, I enjoyed the prominence of monochromes and color blocking on this NYFW runway. And two, I was quite impressed with the clean sophisticated cuts most designers displayed, a typical NYFW edge.
In sum, I had a few quick comments you can catch under my favorite designs below all picked from NYFW FW13!
-Noon by Nour (from Bahrain) is definitely one to watch
-Jason Wu had an outstanding collection (suits were quite prominent)
-All white and black were high on the list with credits going to Proenza Schouler and Lacoste
-The versatile perfection of DKNY ruled
-The feminine hint was courtesy of Diane Von Furstenberg and Carolina Herrera as well as the perfect hour glass figure by most Zac Posen designs
-Turning heads was Tory Burch’s job with a not-so-simple collection
-Nailing the prints is always a Marc Jacobs thing
-The sophisticated lines of Vera Wang could easily turn timeless joining the Ralph Lauren crew
-Introducing a different mood with shades of red and dresses was Jenny Packham’s twist, the same mood was reinforced by the Marchesa high-on-detail collection
-The perfect intense color blocking featuring strong shades that never fail to impress was Michael Kors’ task, giving “silhouette” a new meaning J. Mendel’s and finally, thank you Marc Jacobs for the much needed Bling Bling touch!!
